Frequently Asked Questions

Have more questions? Reach out and we'll be happy to answer them — including anything about tuition and fees.

Does VSA accept childcare subsidies or CCAP?
No. VSA is a private-pay facility and does not accept Louisiana Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) vouchers or any government childcare subsidy. All tuition is paid directly by families. This allows us to maintain complete independence in our standards and curriculum.
What is your staff-to-child ratio?
We follow Louisiana state requirements and often exceed them: Infants (1:4), Young Toddlers (1:5), Older Toddlers (1:6), Pre-K 3 (1:8), Pre-K 4 (1:10). We have 8 lead teachers and 2 floating teachers across our classrooms.
What curriculum do you use?
VSA uses a Montessori-inspired curriculum framework covering five domains: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies. Our teachers are trained in Montessori methodology and follow each child's individual developmental pace.
When is tuition due, and how are fees handled?
Tuition is due on the 1st of each month, with a short grace period. Late fees may apply the longer an account remains past due, and accounts significantly past due may result in a pause in enrollment. Exact amounts and our full payment policy are shared during your personal consultation and outlined in your enrollment agreement. Tuition is non-refundable for absences or holidays.
Can my child attend part-time?
Yes. VSA offers part-time enrollment for 3 days/week at a prorated rate. Specific days are selected at enrollment and subject to availability. Ask us about part-time options during your tour or consultation.
What happens if my child gets sick at school?
If your child develops illness symptoms at VSA, you will be contacted immediately and must pick up within 1 hour. Children must be fever-free (without medication) for 24 hours before returning. VSA follows Louisiana Department of Health illness exclusion guidelines.
Do you provide meals and snacks?
Yes. VSA provides morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack for all enrolled children, prepared to USDA CACFP meal pattern standards. Menus are posted weekly. If your child has dietary restrictions or allergies, please notify us in writing at enrollment.
Are background checks required for all staff?
Absolutely. All VSA employees and volunteers undergo a comprehensive pre-employment Louisiana State Police criminal background check, sex offender registry check, and child abuse/neglect registry check before beginning any work at the center. No exceptions.
